All your questions about Solar answered

HOW DOES SOLAR WORK?

Solar panels absorb sunlight with photovoltaic cells generating Direct Current (DC) energy, this is converted to Alternating Current (AC) by your solar inverter of use in your home or business

HOW MUCH DOES SOLAR COST?

Prices vary depending on system size, battery choice, location and complexity of installation. Typically an 8 panel system costs in the region of £5,000

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO INSTALL SOLAR?

A typical 8 panel system takes between 1-2 days depending on complexity and location

CAN I MONITOR MY SOLAR SYSTEM?

All systems we install have monitoring platforms available accessed through mobile Apps or web browsing

DO I NEED A SOUTH FACING ROOF?

A south facing roof generally provides better solar generation, however solar panels can be installed in any direction

DO I NEED SOLAR OPTIMISERS?

Solar optimisers ensure maximum solar generation when one or more solar panels are effected by shading, this could be from a tree, chimney or neighbouring buildings. Where normal generation would be reduced to the effected panels output an optimiser would ensure you are still getting full generation of the unshaded panels.

DO I NEED A BATTERY?

Unless you are home to take advantage whilst your solar is generating any surplus energy is put back into the electricity grid. Export tariff’s are available for payment of this surplus energy but due to low rates it is usually more efficient to store that surplus energy into a battery for when you need it the most

We carry out thorough surveys to ensure there are no hidden costs of you solar system

Yes, there are many fantastic EV chargers available that are designed to work alongside your solar system.

No, a smart meter isn’t required for your solar panels to be installed or work. Many energy companies do require a smart meter to be installed for an export tariff though

The scaffolding is usually installed 1-2 days before your solar panel installation and comes down 1-2 days after.

We work alongside contractors to ensure a stress free installation. An in-roof system is also a good option bringing the solar panels flush with the roof tiles giving a cleaner look and saving on roof tiles

Solar panels are very durable and have a life expectancy of 25 years. Most manufacturers warranty their panels for a 25 year period

Generally restricted by available space, your energy consumption also and battery storage size can also have an impact on the amount of panels required for efficient generation
